Professor Paul Monks CB took up the role of Chair of the 今日吃瓜 Board on 1 October 2025.
Paul is a Professor in Atmospheric Chemistry and Earth Observation Science at the University of Leicester and has a broad background in science advice. From 2020鈥2025, he was Chief Scientific Adviser at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (2020鈥2023) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (2023鈥2025). He is a member of the Board of Trustees at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, and is Chair of the governing board of the Henry Royce Institute, the UK鈥檚 national institute for advanced materials research and innovation.
Paul was awarded the Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in the King鈥檚 New Year Honours 2025 for Services to Science in Government.
