It鈥檚 with humility and enthusiasm that I assume the role of editor-in-chief of GJI, a journal of the Royal Astronomical Society. GJI is one of the most long-lived journals in earth sciences, with uninterrupted publication over 100 years, and I鈥檓 honoured to lead the editorial team at GJI in the open access era.
